Vital Question....
Are you clear on why you want to make a career change and are you clear to what career, in what type of organisation?

If you're fed up with your current role, your current career, the last thing you want is to move to another role where you end up finding yourself in a similar situation (it's amazing how many people do this)!  Or perhaps you are just starting out in your career and want to  ensure you choose a path that will satisfy and reward you for years to come.

If you are one of the many people who has ended up in a career, jobs, role (whatever you call it) that you are dissatisfied with, ask yourself, does this role align with who I really am? I find that often my clients are unhappy with their work (and often their life) because they haven't aligned their career with themselves.  Sounds strange but those who are happy either by luck or design are those people that understand their values and ensure that their work, and the organisation(s) they work in, are aligned with their values.  Sounds simple right?   Not always. Understanding your own personal values needs focus, attention and reflection.

With the Vital Questions Career Choice approach, I will help you discover your core values, the 'what matters most' to you as a human being. These values form the basis for your every action and interaction, they are the very essence of who you are.  As such if  your values are not in alignment with the work you are doing, you guessed it, you are unhappy in your work.

Having discovered your core values, the next thing to do is identify roles, and organisations, that align with your values.   People who already know their core values often stumble at this block because they have experience/education in a certain field and think that they don't have what's necessary for the  role of their dreams. This is where understanding your transferable skills becomes important. By helping you identify the skills you've developed in both your working and   your personal life, you can see how these skills are relevant and can apply to other roles (and if there are skill gaps identify means of gaining the desired skills). You may be surprised at how your current skills and personal traits align with your desired career path!

All the best

Vital Questions

Vital Questions are the key to getting  your vital answers.  You know when you have just an ordinary answer and you know when you have a vital answer (it looks right, it sounds right and above all it just feels right)!  Yet in today's fast changing, complex world it's easy to accept the ordinary even though you know there is something more, something even better, you could be doing.
Vital Questions enable you to discover your vital answers, the answers that align with your purpose, your values and deliver the results you need.

About me

Professional

Having held leadership positions across many different functions during my career  (Sales, Operations, Production, Purchasing, Learning & Development) I often became the 'go to' person for  advice.  Intrigued as to how I could improve my 'advice giving' led me to learn more about coaching.  I soon realised whilst giving advice was relatively easy,  it sometimes doesn't result in lasting change. Coaching however does and so it was that I embarked on developing my coaching skills (back in 2004) and from there I haven't looked back. Since then I have coached many different people both independently and whilst working in organisations. It gives me great pleasure helping people excel in their role or  new career, helping them deliver results.

Personal
I live in Reading with my wife and have two sons.  My hobbies include running and football ( season ticket holder at Reading FC for my sins) and more recently carpentry.  I enjoy walking in mountainous regions (but only in the summer)!  Plus reading the odd book or six.
